The inside is clean and the paper is well preserved, save some old moisture and spotty staining. The lip edge batten border is still present after after these 200+ years, and is also covered with news print. Original wrought iron plate handles plates with wrought iron handles. Remains of the original now petrified leather hinges are present at the back of the trunk. Part of the original closure mechanism is still present as shown. Note the MANY hand made irregular wrought iron nails used in its construction.
Wonderful small size for easy display. Some cracks on the lid.
