The lock is present on the thunk, the part on the lid is missing. The bottom is signed WPD 4, D.The WPD could mean War Plans Division. There is a note on the front of the lid t hat says Soldier's Footlocker Circa. I think this date is correct due to the leather hinges and no metal handles. Trunk has holes on the side where ropes would have been to use as handles. Everything looks original, I don't think the trunk has been refinished. Lid is domed shaped with iron straps and domed nails. Trunk is 24" long, 13" wide and 12 high. Weighs 12 pounds 9 ounces.
