Dy-Dee Doll In Red Trunk With Extras

  
Hi, Please read for the details, there are some quirks... Here is a Dy-Dee Doll with an original Dy-Dee trunk which were made in the 1930's-1940s by Effanbee, and a beautiful book about Dy-Dee dolls for collectors by Barbara Hilliker. What a fun toy this would have been for little "Moms" back in those days, and a fun start for Dy-Dee collectors today. The doll measures about 13 and has the mold #1 head in nice condition with brown hair and brownish sleep eyes but she has a replaced body, which is a marked Effanbee body, but is vinyl, I believe, rather than the original rubber and her head is wobbly on this body, but not falling off. She comes in her original pink organdy gown and bonnet with vintage under shirt & replaced flannel diaper. The trunk is made of wood and cardboard and measures about 14" long, 9 1/4" wide, 9 1/4 deep. It is sturdy and has one drawer, but does have touch-up paint and sealer to stabilize the paper from peeling.

All of the original metal hardware is still present and works well, it has a coat of metallic paint on it. The trunk also has a few baby doll items inside, a Dy-Dee glass bottle and a metal spoon, there is also a very pretty vintage set of baby care items, hair brush, comb, powder box, tray, etc, with sweet blue flowers painted on them, she has her pink pacifier & rattle too. She also has a pink eiderdown bunting that has two rabbits on it & needs the ribbon replaced around the hood, & white flannel baby pajamas. The graphics on the inside of the trunk lid are original and very colorful.

I have added a photo of the trunk from a Dy-Dee doll book. I could picture finding this under a Christmas tree years ago, what fun!
