Jenny Lind trunks were popularized in the 1850s. They were named after the famous Swedish opera singer. The Swedish Nightingale so named by Hans Christian Anderson, was promoted in America by P.(I couldnt make this up). He also merchandised her tour with many items. One was this extremely uniquely shaped trunk. The Jenny Lind trunk has great curved lines. When turned to its side, it resembles a loaf of bread or a key hole. Plus they always had nice brass buttons for highlights. You dont see many of these, and their prices can be through the roof even unrestored. The last pic is what it looked like when i got it. Ive restored around 63 trunks and 7 Jenny Linds. This one is really unique and stately. The Interior was stripped of the old paper lining, wood bleach cleaned, sanded, golden oak stained, and satin polyurathaned. Also all parts were repaired. The inner lid has a nice paneled door, that is completely functional. Also it has a cute little tray on the bottom. The Exterior already had the old leather removed, but had been milk painted in a dark color. So i wood bleach cleaned, sanded, and golden oak stained it. This left it just a dark nothing.
So i accent rubbed brown paint into it. It turned out really well. Then all the metal was Black Rustoluem painted, and everything satin polyurathaned.
The buttons all have brass highlights and all the leather is new. New l eather Handles and lid pulls. The new fabric lid stay is almost identical to the one originally used. Fortunately these higher end trunks were rarely abused, and this one is another example. Even the four bottom rollers spin freely. So in a nutshell, im offering a really nice restored Jenny Lind at a very reasonable cost. And my customers have Consistently said they look better than the pictures. You can be confident to put any items inside without smell or damage.
If you like the pics, you will like this trunk. I can not sell to anyone with no feedback or not in the 48 states.
