Someone has done a nice restoration job on this old 1800s vintage humpback stagecoach trunk. It is a bit smaller than the others I have had. Measurements are 26 wide by 16 deep by 18 tall.
Empty weight is 20 pounds. The inside has been painted black and there is not storage shelf. Please look closely at the pictures. I will try to describe it in detail but encourage interested parties to enlarge the pics and inspect it for yourself. Feel free to ask questions.
It still has all four casters on the bottom and they work although they are a bit wobbly. The original leather strap handles on both ends have been replaced by modern antique-look copper handles. They enhance the piece nicely although the holes where the original handles attached remain visible. The beautiful and intricate metal covering has acquired a nice dark patina over the years which is nicely enhanced by the shinny finish someone has applied to the piece. Over the years the metal has sustained numerous small dents and dings and even a bit of corrosion near one of the corner embellishments, all of which add to the character of the piece.
Please see pics and make your own assessment. The hinges are original and work properly. Most of the metal brads (nails) which attach the metal and wooden straps to the frame are original and the substitutes are period appropriate. Someone will really enjoy owning this beautiful old piece. I charge you what the shipper charges me.
