This is a really nice circa 1870's restored wood trunk. It's a good medium size, with the beautiful simplicity of the barrel stave slats. Many restorers, including myself sometimes, get very bling bling on the trunks hardware. But i wanted to keep the hardware highlighting to an "antique-ish look". Notice the soft brass hardware highlights.
She's been fully restored. The exterior has been stripped of the very old original leather, then oxycleaned /deck bleach cleaned, then sanded, then golden oak stained, and black Rustoluem painted, and polyurethaned to protect it.The interior has been stripped of the original paper, then oxycleaned /deck bleach cleaned, then sanded, then golden oak stained, then polyurethaned to protect it. Plus this has new leather handles.
The Tray is an interesting layout. It latches upward into the lid. I preserved most of the original print. Everything else has been stripped, then sanded, then golden oak stained, then polyurethaned. Then i added a leather strap to hold the tray. The lock is not functional, like most old trunks.
You will be confident to store any blankets or clothes inside. This should be a showpiece in one of your nice rooms. As my feedback will attest, my trunks are better than the pics show and im confident you will love it. All serious questions are welcome.
