Fantastic antique traveling trunk, full leather, mid 19th century. Very rare trunk made by John B Baker of Boston.
Made for a Boston Banker who traveled via steamship around the world many times. Settled in Seattle in the early years of that city. Trunk has a lot of age and wear, beautiful in this way.
Patina and wear throughout, old travel labels, and a vault sticker indicating the trunk (with contents) had spent some time in an old bank vault. Provenance established by an old note affixed to the inside of trunk indicating the original owner, and his son, who used this trunk in their many journeys, see photo. Great piece of history and a unique home accent. Dimensions approx 24.5" long, 15" wide, 17 tall.Condition is worn, lots of use wear and patina, non working lock. However trunk is intact and makes an excellent display piece or storage in the home. The pictures tell the story. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Trunks & Chests".
