The trunk is in decent condition overall. It is in an exceptionally preserved state for its age. Notably, the original lining is intact and nearly undisturbed by time.
The original heat stamped interior label and stamped serial number are fully intact and appear as the day they left the hands of the craftsman that laid them. There are several water spots inside and a few of the brass rivets for the interior lining have fallen out but overall this lining can be described as intact and well preserved (see photos).
Missing is the original clothing tray that would have gone inside of this trunk. This is a monogrammed piece: the surname Postles appears on both sides of the trunk below each handle. There is NOT any hard or heavy wear to the external finish or on the inside of the trunk (apart from those areas noted with the age of the piece - none caused by abuse) such as deep gouges, dents or rips/tears that would indicate hard use/abuse. There are, however, several areas of aged wear such as cracking wood, peeling leather, fraying and peeling of fabric lining areas, missing internal rivets and overall softening of the external edges and brass components. Please review all of the photos carefully and ask any questions that you may have. What you see pictured is what you will receive.
