This is a lovely old pine chest. It is handmade and has been waxed to a lovely finish and colour. The chest has strong metal lifting handles and has trim to the base. It has penny hinges and good strong dovetail joints. Inside there is a candle tray with an unusual lift off section, revealing a secret compartment underneath and handy for smaller items. It would make a lovely coffee table and there is room for storing books, blankets, shoes, toys or magazines. The chest does have signs of use and wear. It has knocks and blemishes which add to its character.

One of the penny hinges shows wear to the top but it is sound. Slight signs of woodworm to the front of the lid at one side but it has been professionally stripped, so its long gone. It is a very solid and sturdy box.

Collection from near Bedale, North Yorkshire (10 mins from the A1) would be welcomed and can take place in outside.
