The top and sides are festooned with brass tacks and there is a fancy diamond on top with a brass handle. The trunk closes and can be carried by handle, and there is a lock but unfortunately no key. The bottom is covered in old polka dot paper under a shellack-type coating. There is a heavy cotton strap attached to top & bottom to hold lid open. This may have had leather trim along the bottom but I do not believe the box was covered in leather at any time.
This is a wonderful pre-civil war trunk made by a well-know and prolific Boston trunk maker Robert Burr of Hanover Street. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Trunks & Chests". The seller is "413momngram2" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
